Radiant morning light washes over Uluru in this original landscape by Australian artist Stanley (Stan) Johns, whose work focuses on the dramatic geology and skies of Central Australia. Here, Johns captures Ayers Rock at sunrise in luminous color, with soft gradations in the sky and rich earthy tones across the rock face and surrounding desert.

Johns was active in the 1980s–1990s, working mainly in acrylic and oil on board and painting iconic Australian locations such as the Blue Mountains, Coorong, Corroboree Rock, and Uluru. His landscapes appear regularly at Australian auction houses and regional galleries.
